Cervical Myalgia (Neck Pain)
Neck problems can cause headaches, numbness, coldness or “pins-and-needles” in the face, chest,
down your arms, wrists or hands.
It can also result in anxiety, insomnia, low back pain, ear ringing, dizziness, hearing loss, eye pain, blurred vision, sensitivity to light and many other symptoms.
Although, there are many causes of Neck Pain, their common bond is that they can all ruin your plans!
Disturbing your activities, work and love life, time with friends and loved ones, your workouts, personal plans, loss of sleep, causing a lot of frustration and more stress to deal with.
We all know of how stress, poor posture, poor sleeping, sitting at the computer or being on the phone all day, old injuries or accidents, falls, sports injuries, poor sleeping position, etc... can add up and cause you considerable pain and discomfort.
But there are other reasons for neck pain that most people are not aware of, like they should be.
The most common cause of your pain is actually from Joint Dysfunction.
Joint Dysfunction is when a joint in your spine or extremities loses its proper mechanical advantage, leverage and function, also called misalignment. This causes your surrounding muscles and tissues to contract and protect the area(s), resulting in further spasms and contractures. The tighter the contracture, the more the restriction and decrease in range of motion. This results in further protective mechanisms, pain production syndromes and eventually joint degeneration and arthritis develop.
What makes our approach different is that, as with the professional and Olympic athletes we work with, we can offer you a more complete approach to taking care of your neck pain. Instead of just treating the pain, we search for the weaknesses and causes of your problem, then design a specific approach for your specific case to not only handle the pain, but also to strengthen the involved area, design specific stretches and exercises just for you to do at home or at work!
